Shipwright Benjamin Beneteau founded the company in 1884, at Croix de Vie, France to build sailing trawlers. In the mid sixties, Benjamin's grandchildren Annette Beneteau Roux and her brother André Beneteau introduced a line of fiberglass boats.

Beneteau is widely known for its innovative, seaworthy production sailboats that these days look and perform like custom yachts without the custom level investment. The Beneteau yard continues to lead the industry in creating safe, fast and comfortable boats.
